GE has recalled 1.3. million dishwashers due to an electrical failure in the heating element that can pose a fire hazard. There have been 15 reports of failure of these units, including 7 fires that caused extensive property damage. There have been no injuries reported to date. The unit recall information is listed below:
Brands:
GE, GE Adora, GE Aterna, GE Profile and Hotpoint. Model and Serial Numbers can be located on a metallic plate on the inside of the unit on the left wall.
Manufacture Dates:
Products were sold in the U.S. between March 2006-August 2009.
GE has instructed consumers to STOP USE of these appliances IMMEDIATELY by disconnecting the electrical supply to the appliance by shutting off the circuit breaker that send power to it.
