Federal Pacific Electrical Panels have been deemed a fire waiting to happen due to faulty breakers not tripping during periods of excessive load. After many incidents, testing on these units indicated a failure rate on average as high as 65% of the time. Because of the safety related defect, federal pacific lost it's UL rating and the panels have since been recalled and taken out of distribution.

These panels were manufactured and installed between 1950-1980 and it is estimated that 28 million panels were installed across the country. The problem is that most homeowners don’t know if they have this type of panel until they either encounter the problem, or try to sell their home. If you discover that you have a Federal Pacific Electrical Panel it requires prompt attention, and needs to be replaced immediately!
